Since 2016, when it opened its doors, St. Regis Maldives has been one of my dream destinations. This resort elevates Maldives’ overwater villas with dedicated butler service and surprises like picnics on deserted sandbars – truly aspirational destinations!
This property comprises nine hectares on Vommuli Island in Dhaalu Atoll. The area boasts lush tropical vegetation, white-sand beaches and brackish lagoons filled with marine life.
Rooms
St Regis is known for imbuing properties with luxury, and Vommuli Maldives is no different. Designed by Warner Wong Design, its architecture draws its inspiration from local marine life–lodges are shaped like manta rays while its library was created to resemble whale sharks as one example of this theme.
Set on its own private island in Dhaalu Atoll, this resort is surrounded by picturesque landscapes, lush tropical vegetation and a fine white-sand beach that reaches into the shimmering Indian Ocean. There are 77 rooms at the resort; 44 over water villas come equipped with private pools and butler services to further ensure guests experience comfort during their stay.
At this resort, guests can choose between one-bedroom to three-bedroom overwater villas for their stay. Beach Villa is an entry level option; larger three-bedroom John Jacob Astor Estate was awarded as “Leading Luxury Hotel Villa” this year at the World Travel Awards; one of its features include staff quarters, an impressive 92ft2 infinity pool and spacious deck overlooking the lagoon.
All rooms offer high-speed Internet access and flatscreen TV. In addition, minibar and coffee/tea maker are provided, along with separate tubs and showers in bathrooms featuring hairdryers. Some rooms even provide sea-view balconies or private gardens complete with hammocks!
Iridium Spa stands out as an integral feature of the property. As the first overwater spa in Maldives, it offers luxurious relaxation. There are two outdoor pools and sauna available as well for guest to use at Iridium Spa – as well as plenty of amenities to make their visit truly pleasurable.
While I was staying at this hotel, I experienced incredible service from their butler team. They provided timely transport to and from the airport and stood in line while we checked-in for our flight – it made the entire journey more memorable!
